Class Gathering at Fraunces Tavern, NYC

September 17, 2016

The class will have a get-together at historic Fraunces Tavern® from 3:00  to 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 17.  Fraunces Tavern, where George Washington gave his Farewell Address to his Officers, is located at 54 Pearl Street in lower Manhattan.

All classmates are invited, including those outside the New York City area.  The schedule has been arranged so that out-of-towners have the evening free to see a show or other attractions, especially in lower Manhattan, visit family and friends, or take advantage of whatever else the city has to offer.  The schedule:
  • 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.    Tour of the Museum.  Classmate Dan Harman, who is Treasurer of an organization that owns the Fraunces Tavern complex and operates Fraunces Tavern Museum, has arranged a special tour of the Museum by its Executive Director, Jessica Baldwin Phillips.  The tour will include the Long Room, where Washington gave his famous speech, and the current exhibitions, which feature paintings of Revolutionary War scenes by John Ward Dunsmore (one of which is the Battle of Princeton).  See www.frauncestavernmuseum.org.
  • 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.     Cash bar at Fraunces Tavern taproom where they offer an impressive selection of beer and other libations.
  • 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.     Dinner at Fraunces Tavern Restaurant in the Bissell Room.
We ask that you reserve in advance so that the Museum and Restaurant can properly prepare for the event.  The cost per person is $100 if you register by not later than Saturday, September 10.  Advance registration after that date will be $110 and the cost at the door will be $120.  New York City is at its best in autumn, and we hope that many of you will join us for what should be an interesting, enjoyable event.
